I just love this. Everything about it. Even the little snake — and I’m terrified of snakes. Thanks for your work. I just purchased The Shape of Ideas and I’m totally enjoying it. Thanks again.
Congratulations on your new book - I just bought it. Food for thought as I'm looking to start publishing my webcomic, CHAI COFFEESHOP, in some sort of tome.
This is literally the story of my journey. As always, I adore the poetic visualization of such abstract concepts. Also, I love tortoises, so seeing one in a comic always has me enraptured.
congratulations on 15 years! here's to infinite more! (in 15-year increments, if you like.)
“If you are lucky, you’ll find something you enjoy doing” is lovely and true and i'm very glad that you found this (for your own benefit AND the benefit of us all here)!
Thank you for this! Your work always brings me back to earth. It gently and profoundly touches my life in numerous ways. I am an insanely creative person, and sometimes my love for the process can get lost in the struggle to succeed.
Love it! And wow 15 years, congrats! Did you end up becoming a dentist 🦷 or did the comics become your full time job? Or do you have another talent as exotic animal wrangler?! 🐊
Ha, yes, I did. I have worked as an orthodontist for 10 years - another crazy anniversary. And no exotic pets but my small children are wild enough to qualify 😁
I just found a book of you in the local library here in Cologne/Germany. Great work, like your newsletter! Thank you for your profound and funny comics! (Are you still working as a orthodontist? I have to tell this my children’s orthodontist.)
Wow, that's great it made it to Germany! Thanks for sharing! And yes, I work as an orthodontist two days a week and draw at home the other days. A fun balance.
Great! Our orthodontist has a good job balance, too. He works three days a week here in Cologne and two days in his office in a different part of Germany ;) (read a very short story about him here: https://open.substack.com/pub/joergscholz/p/jaws?r=39llx2&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web. For myself, I still try to find the right balance (most difficult part in doing art, I guess).
Very cool! For a great graphic novel on braces, check out SMILE by Raina Telgemeier (a mega-bestseller and favorite of nearly every young reader I talk to)
Just love this newsletter! So unique and amazing!

It's cuter than a real life snake, right? Thanks and hope you like the book!
Absolutely cuter!!
I love that the snake needs no leash while they’re all out walking. Perhaps it’s better behaved and more well-mannered than the others. :)
Grant - This is brilliant! Thanks so much and congratulations.

Thank you! I'm hoping for at least another 15 x 4 😁
Excellent! I'll hope for 15 x 8, just in case the universe wants to negotiate! Then 15 x 4 will seem like a bargain!
