We’re nearly halfway through the third annual Poetry Comics Month. You can read every daily comic in my Notes.
I was browsing art books in the Wichita State University library when I found the inspiration for “One Life.” Here’s the painting “MacDougal Alley” by Charles Sheeler from 1922:
What better way to understand a great work of art than to recreate it with a cat?
You can read more poetry comics for all ages in my latest book, learn how to create your own poetry comics, and use the prompts below for inspiration during the rest of November.
Still to come: A poetry comic adapted from a classic poem from the 18th century, a couple poetry comic experiments in watercolor, and a poetry comic love story between two punctuation marks.
Love this, especially as the poetry works equally well if you follow the cat (zig-zag across the page) or read the words traditionally (left to right, back to left and across again, making 3 lines).
I have no idea which you actually intended, and I don’t think it matters, as it’s fun to read, look, and follow both journeys. 🥰 The joy of comics, and the beauty of this format!
Brilliant inspiration. I'm new to this and am producing terrible responses to the prompts, but having fun
