TIL the etymology of "saunter", as well as some new words. Lovely.

Definitely jumping on the desuetude train… I love exploring (in real life and the idea of exploring) castle ruins, empty warehouse units, and especially barns/silos. I love it when nature mixes with man made to make something entirely new - and usually misunderstood.

Excellent work again Grant! Love the work on Flâneur especially. Very nice.

I love desuetude. A spooky, abandoned amusement park gives all the right vibes for a horror story.

Desuetude describes much of the West in Nevada, a plethora of ghosts towns. Watching that video was like taking a tour around Bodie, CA, an old mining town that is kept in stasis as a State Park. And flaneur describes me to a certain extent. I love to jump in the car and wander far afield, too far to saunter for sure, but slow hikes were a joy in years past. Thank you.

Feliz dia

This is perfectly lovely. However, I don’t see a place to write a little note when ordering the book. I would love for the author to put a little inscription!

Don't be deceived: Desuetude refers only to whether something it being unused, not the effects of its disuse (disrepair or decrepitude, for example). The word desuetude is therefore appropriately used in reference to skills and habits (e.g., "For obvious reasons, during the pandemic my gym etiquette fell into desuetude.")

Ordered your book and can’t wait to read it! It’s a gift to myself for Poetry Month.
