A Smaller Me
Inspired by David Hockney (1937 – 2026)
David Hockney, one of the greatest contemporary painters, has died at age 88. His work is a symphony of color, line, and form. He painted water, trees, and people in new and fascinating ways.
Hockney mastered traditional painting techniques but also used photography, iPhones, and iPads to make his pictures. From small pencil sketches to wall-sized paintings, his art reminds me of the joys of looking, seeing, and appreciating the world.

This comic appears in my latest book, Thinking About Thinking.

I think you captured his unique combination of rigor and joy.
