The summer heat may be miserable, but at least the food is great. Juicy watermelon and cantaloupe from roadside stands. Loads of corn and tomatoes from the garden.
Oh, and ice cream. By the end of August, I’ve sampled every kind:
Something about summer makes me want to experiment with new art supplies. I put away my pens, shut down Photoshop, and pull out my paintbrush. Watercolor is a perfect medium for the season. Just be careful not to sip the paint water.
Eventually, all summers come to an end. The heat and freedom fade. Only the memories remain: the unforgiving afternoon sun, the lazy evenings at the pool, the firefly nights. And the taste of homegrown tomatoes.
