I Can Be...
on the multiplicity of the self
Let us celebrate our myriad, mysterious, multifaceted personalities.
Which ME is ME? Why decide?
I’m excited to celebrate the publication of POETRY COMICS in paperback from Chronicle Books. It’s a portrait of the changing seasons, but also of the changing self. “I Can Be…” is just one of its many colorful pages.
When autumn approaches I throw away my summer frivolities and become a more thoughtful, meditative person. Walking around parks, trails, and neighborhoods, I’m once again attuned to nature. I stop. I notice. I record it in my notebook.
Come November I’ll restart my daily haiku practice for Poetry Comics Month. Until then, you can scroll through my Substack Notes for my 31 days of Haiku July comics. Or you can brave my newsletter archives to see my Poetry Comics Month entries from the last few years.
I’d love to see the comics you or your students make. Please tag me on social media, email me at gsnider11@gmail.com, or send art via snail mail to this address:

Thanks for reading, writing, and drawing along!
