I’m excited to announce that my book POETRY COMICS was chosen for the National Education Association's Read Across America program. It will be the middle grade title for April, which is National Poetry Month here in the United States.
POETRY COMICS is organized by seasons. Of all four seasons, fall is my favorite. It’s a season of vivid colors, pleasant weather, and a feeling of anticipation.
When the leaves start to yellow I escape the walls of my home studio. I take my notebook outdoors and wait for a poem to strike. Sometimes I get a jolt of inspiration: leaves in a spectrum of color, a yellow spider in an intricate web, cobweb clouds in an azure sky.
But more often, the words for a poem come to me slowly. They settle on me as gently as a falling leaf.
For more words and pictures for all seasons, find POETRY COMICS at your favorite local bookstore or online wherever you get your books. And stay tuned for the third annual Poetry Comics Month in November—if you know of any artists making poetic comics whose work I should feature, please comment below!
I LOVE THIS SO HARD
I love this book so much. And I am so glad this is happening.
